Herd Manager – Full Time Permanent
Location: Ashburton, Canterbury

We are looking for a Herd Manager for a 940-cow farm in Ashburton.

Your role will include but not limited to:

  • Milking
  • Animal health monitoring/recording
  • Being able to confidently identify mastitis or ill health within the herd
  • Treating lame cows
  • Tractor work
  • Fencing
  • Assisting with calving
  • Ability to lead the junior members of the team

We are seeking an individual with:

  • At least 2 years of dairy farming experience in New Zealand
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to animal welfare
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Physically fit and reliable

This is a permanent, full time position and a minimum of 30 hours per week is guaranteed.

The roster is 6 days on, 2 days off.

The hourly rate is between $27.78 to $31.20 per hour depending on experience ($65,000-73,000).

The successful candidate will need to undertake pre-employment drug testing and a criminal record

check. We are strictly a smoke/vape-free farm.

Accommodation is a 2-bedroom house, unable to accommodate pets.
