Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Cook to manage food preparation and cooking operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing a variety of meals, maintaining consistent food quality, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·       Inspect ingredients and food items to ensure freshness and quality prior to preparation.

·       Prepare, season, and cook a variety of menu items in accordance with cooking standards.

·       Plan and organise food preparation to ensure efficient service during busy periods.

·       Monitor cooking processes and ensure appropriate cooking times and temperatures are maintained.

·       Check the quality of raw and cooked food to ensure consistency and presentation standards.

·       Assist in developing and updating menu items, including suggesting improvements to recipes and offerings.

·       Estimate food requirements and assist with stock control and ordering supplies.

·       Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

·       Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen environment at all times.

·       Support and guide junior kitchen staff or new team members where required.

·       Ensure all food is handled, stored, and prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.

·       Monitor stock levels and maintain inventory of food supplies and kitchen equipment.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following:

·       A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification; or

·       At least two years of relevant work experience in the same industry

Other Skills Required

·       Strong cooking skills and understanding of food preparation techniques.

·       Good teamwork and communication skills.

·       Knowledge of food hygiene standards, stock rotation, and safe food storage practices.

·       Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
