Summary

         We are looking for 2 Forklift Operator to work at our poultry catching operations in Christchurch, Canterbury region

         Experienced Class 2 Forklift driver required to load poultry onto trucks.

         You will transport forklift to different farm locations and then load modules of live poultry onto trucks, following all safe work procedures, ensuring the safety of everyone on site and meet the schedule times for each catch

         Days – Mon – Friday occasional Saturday

         No set time with this role. Be prepared to start for example 12.45am fishing at 12pm or starting at 12pm and finishing 2pm. Flexibility and reliability are essential to make this operation work. Do not apply if you cannot commit to this level of flexibility.

Tasks

         Carry out the loading and unloading of all trucks out on site with the forklift you transport, this will involve you driving your forklift into and out of poultry sheds

         Attend weekly toolbox meetings or as required.

         Ensure all relevant paperwork is filled out and handed into the office every week, including timesheets and all check sheets.

         You are responsible for set up and taking down barriers around the loading pads at each farm.

         Ensure no one enters your loading area (no go zone) at any time without authorization from you.

         Liaise with Site Manager to update the Growers/Farmers of any delays or changes.

         Report/inform relevant managers of any significant changes to the night operation.

         Ensure all migration barriers and equipment is collected at the end of each catch every day and ready to use the next day.

         You will need to maintain a high standard of personal hygiene due to the handling of live poultry.

         You will be required to assist in poultry catching when needed, this will include picking up live birds and loading into modules.

         All equipment for your role will be supplied by the company, these must be kept safe and inworking order, all phones, iPad and other equipment remains the property of Alderson Poultry Transport these are for company use only and is your responsibility to look after.

Transporter Forklift

         Transport forklift to and from farms using company transporters as per the daily schedule.

         Keep an accurate daily record of your logbook and working hours for the office.

         It is your responsibility to check that all documents are current and displayed for your vehicle.

         Assigned vehicle and forklift must always be in good working order and safe to use. Any issues /damages with the vehicle or forklift must be reported to your manager immediately.

         Carry out Pre-start and end of day checks on both your forklift and transporter, this includes but not limited to oil, water, tire pressure, hydraulic hoses, barriers, safety chains and twitches.

         Assigned transporter and forklift should only be driven by authorized personal and it is your responsibility to make sure no unauthorized persons use these on site.

         Keep your transporter and forklift clean and tidy.

         Ensure forklift and transporter is clean after the completion of catch as well as cleaned and sanitised between farms.

         Forklift and Transporter to be cleaned, washed and sanitised in wash bay at the yard each day when you arrive back after your shift

         Remains calm under pressure

         Have excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and can understand and convey information across the business.

Must have

         1 year in the poultry or relevant industry experience

         Three years’ experience operating a Class 2 forklift

         Clean Class 2 full driver’s license

         F Endorsement and Forklift Certificate

         Minimum 40 hours per week

         Must pass a drug and alcohol test pre and intermittent post-employment testing.
