Are you a NZ registered electrician (EWRB) who enjoys being on the tools, but is ready to step up, take more responsibility, and build towards a leadership role?

Wells is looking for a motivated, capable electrician to take on a SecondinCharge (2IC) role within our Auckland team. This is a great opportunity for someone earlier in their career who is keen to learn the next side of the business — supervision, scoping work, and supporting delivery — while still remaining hands-on.

Why this role is different

  • Clear development pathway toward Supervisor roles
  • Mix of hands-on electrical work and leadership responsibility
  • Direct exposure to scoping work, quoting, and job planning
  • Support and mentoring from an experienced Supervisor
  • Work across commercial, industrial, EV, and specialist environments
  • Permanent role in a growing, stable national business Remuneration, vehicle, and progression plan will be discussed based on experience and capability.

The role As the 2IC, you’ll work closely with the current Supervisor and step in when they are on leave or require additional support. Your role will include:

  • Carrying out electrical installation, service, and maintenance work
  • Acting as 2IC on projects, helping lead day-to-day site activities
  • Supporting job planning, scoping, and preparation of quotes
  • Coordinating work on site and supporting other electricians when required
  • Maintaining strong safety, quality, and compliance standards
  • Building client relationships through reliable, professional delivery This role is hands-on first, with increasing responsibility over time as your capability grows. Some Upper North Island travel and participation in the on call roster form part of the role, shared fairly across the team.

About you We’re looking for someone who is:

  • ✔ NZ Registered Electrician (EWRB)
  • ✔ Confident technically and comfortable working independently
  • ✔ Keen to learn leadership, planning, and commercial aspects of the role
  • ✔ Reliable, organised, and respected by peers on site
  • ✔ Safety focused with high standards of workmanship
  • ✔ Holder of a full NZ driver’s licence Previous experience supporting junior staff, leading small jobs, or assisting with job planning is an advantage, but not essential.
