Automotive Painter

Modern Transport Engineers (MTE) is one of New Zealand’s leading heavy transport and trailer manufacturers. We’re looking for an experienced Automotive Painter to join our workshop team, working on a variety of new builds, refurbishments, and specialist projects.

About the Role
You’ll be responsible for painting trucks, trailers, and heavy transport equipment, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet our standards and customer expectations.

Key duties include:
• Preparing vehicles and components for paint (sanding, masking, priming)
• Spray painting trucks, trailers, and components
• Mixing paints and matching colours
• Maintaining paint booth and equipment
• Ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards
• Working alongside fabrication and assembly teams on custom builds

About You
• Qualified automotive painter or proven industry experience
• Experience painting commercial vehicles, trucks, or trailers preferred
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and motivated
• NZ work rights required
