Positioned as a solution-focused consultancy, Ricon develops strategic network plans and coordinates with specialist third-party providers to execute implementations. The company also provides services to New Zealand government departments, ensuring high standards of compliance, reliability, and security.

Due to continued business growth and increasing demand for customised network solutions, Ricon Limited is seeking an experienced Network Consultant to join the team. This role is critical in supporting client engagements, designing scalable solutions, and ensuring successful delivery of projects.

Position Information

  • Position: Network Consultant
  • Location: Auckland, New Zealand
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours per week)
  • Salary: NZD $85,000 – $90,000 per annum

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engage with clients to understand their business needs and define appropriate network and security requirements
  • Analyse existing systems and design practical network solutions, including LAN/WAN, WiFi, firewall, and security configurations
  • Evaluate and recommend suitable technologies, and develop detailed design specifications and implementation plans
  • Provide advice to clients on improving network performance, reliability, and security
  • Coordinate and oversee deployment by third-party providers to ensure solutions align with design requirements
  • Monitor network performance and recommend ongoing improvements
  • Assist in resolving complex technical issues when required
  • Prepare and maintain network design documentation to support future system enhancements

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant experience in delivering IT/network solutions to end users, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and confidently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a genuine interest in network solution design
  • Solid knowledge of network technologies, including LAN/WAN, wireless networks, and network security principles
  • Good understanding of network architecture and the ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions
  • Proven competency in supporting compliance requirements within ICT environments, including adherence to government standards and regulatory frameworks
