Hours per week: Minimum 30 hours
Hourly rate: $25 to $28 depending on experience
Tasks Include:
- Interpreting and analysing blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of drainage systems and materials required
- Installing and maintaining below-ground stormwater and wastewater drainage systems
- Designing and installing sewerage and effluent disposal systems
- Laying and joining pipes for stormwater and sewage drainage
- Installing inspection openings, access chambers, pits, grates, and other associated drainage infrastructure
- Carrying out excavation work using hand tools or machinery, ensuring safety and accuracy
- Installing associated ground support systems where required
- Testing drainage systems to identify and rectify leaks or blockages
- Coordinating with other trades and site managers to ensure drainage works align with overall construction timelines
Requirements:
- A qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 or above in a relevant field OR at least one year relevant work experience.
- Full registration as Drainlayers is not mandatory, as training will be provided.
- An exempt license is acceptable. Entry level drainlayers are welcome.
- Attention to detail and precision in all tasks.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
- Physical fitness for demanding construction work.
