We are looking for a confident and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with at least 2+ years of experience in a New Zealand Chartered Accountancy (CA) environment to step up, manage their own client portfolio, and gain hands-on experience in advisory work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance & Reporting: Prepare annual financial statements and tax returns for a diverse range of entities (Companies, Trusts, and Individuals).
  • Tax Management: Complete GST, FBT, and Income Tax returns while supporting broader tax planning initiatives.
  • Client Interaction: Act as a key point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and providing clear, actionable financial insights.
  • Management Reporting: Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly management reports, including profit and loss and balance sheet analysis.
  • System Optimisation: Utilise Xero to streamline client workflows.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in a New Zealand accounting firm.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. You should be a [Qualified CA / studying towards your CA qualification].
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of New Zealand tax legislation and accounting standards.
  • Software: Proficiency in Xero is highly preferred; experience with APS or MYOB is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial data to non-accountants. Ability to work unsupervised and solve problems is a must.
