Sandhuz Trading Limited is a courier and logistics service provider, contracted to NZ Post, operating across Auckland. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Transport Manager to join our team based in Auckland.
This is a full-time position, with guaranteed hours of 30 per week. The pay rate starts from $32 to $36 per hour, depending on skills, qualifcation and experience.
Role Overview:
As the Transport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our transport operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and exceptional service. Your role will involve managing a team, developing strategies to enhance our service delivery, and working closely with clients to meet their transportation needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organise and control daily transport operations to ensure timely and efficient collection and delivery of courier items.
- Manage and coordinate a fleet of courier vehicles, including scheduling, route allocation, and performance monitoring
- Supervise and manage drivers, including recruitment, training, rostering, and performance management
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations under NZ Post agreements, including delivery timeframes, service quality, and reporting requirements
- Monitor and improve operational efficiency, including route optimisation, fuel usage, and delivery performance
- Oversee vehicle maintenance and compliance, ensuring all vehicles meet safety, registration, and operational standards
- Manage logistics planning, including allocation of deliveries, workload distribution, and contingency planning for peak periods
- Maintain records and prepare operational reports, including delivery performance, incidents, and compliance documentation
- Ensure health and safety compliance, including driver safety, fatigue management, and workplace safety standards
- Liaise with NZ Post representatives, clients, and stakeholders to ensure service expectations are met and issues are resolved promptly
- Manage operational costs and budgets, including fuel, maintenance, and labour costs
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures to maintain consistent service delivery
- Investigate and resolve delivery issues, delays, and customer complaints in a timely manner
- Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements relating to transport, employment, and road safety
Requirements for the role:
- Relevant Diploma qualification OR
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience working in a similar industry is required. Experience working in the courier industry in any role would be accepted.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of transport regulations and safety standards in New Zealand would be advantageous.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using transport management software and tools.
- Able to work flexible shifts and in the weekends
