We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations within our stone fabrication facility.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
Supervise and coordinate daily production activities including cutting, polishing, and
finishing of stone products (e.g., granite, engineered stone, marble, porcelain).
Ensure production schedules are met in line with customer deadlines.
Monitor workflow and adjust resources to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Team Leadership
Lead, train, and motivate a team of machine operators and fabricators.
Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development.
Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability and continuous
improvement.
Health & Safety Compliance
Enforce adherence to New Zealand health and safety regulations (including WorkSafe
requirements).
Identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
Ensure proper use of PPE and safe handling of stone materials and machinery.
Quality Control
Maintain high standards of workmanship and product quality.
Inspect finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and client
expectations.
Implement quality improvement initiatives.
Operational Efficiency
Monitor production KPIs such as output, waste, and labor utilization.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity.
Coordinate maintenance of machinery and equipment.
Inventory & Materials Management
Oversee raw material usage and stock levels.
Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure material availability.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment (stone, construction
materials, or similar preferred).
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
Strong understanding of production processes and workflow management.
Knowledge of CNC machinery and stone fabrication tools is advantageous.
Solid understanding of workplace health and safety practices in New Zealand.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job specifications.
Qualifications
Relevant trade qualification or manufacturing/engineering background preferred.
First Aid Certificate (desirable).
Forklift license (advantageous).
