Baygold manages high‑performing kiwifruit orchards across the Western Bay of Plenty. We are seeking an experienced Orchard Manager to lead orchard operations, teams, and performance across multiple sites. This full‑time, permanent role involves overseeing production, resources, budgets, health and safety, and staff development. Applicants require strong orchard knowledge, leadership experience, and relevant qualifications or industry experience.

About the Role 

We’re looking for an experienced Orchard Manager to lead orchard operations and team performance across our sites. This is a permanent, full-time role with a minimum of 30 hours per week (typically 40–50 hours depending on season). 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Plan, coordinate and oversee orchard operations to meet production and quality targets  

  • Allocate labour, machinery, and resources effectively  

  • Monitor orchard performance and implement improvements  

  • Ensure work is completed in line with SOPs and best practice  

  • Manage budgets and reporting requirements  

  • Lead, coach, and develop Team Leaders and Supervisors  

  • Support recruitment, training, and performance management  

  • Lead health and safety practices and ensure compliance  

 

Skills & Experience 

You must meet one of the following: 

  • NZQF Level 4 qualification in Horticulture or related field 
    OR  

  • At least 5 years’ relevant industry experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role  

You will also have: 

  • Strong knowledge of orchard operations  

  • Proven leadership and organisational skills  

  • Ability to analyse performance and drive improvements  

  • Full NZ driver’s licence  

Desirable: GrowSafe, Health & Safety training, machinery experience
