Kiwifruit Orchard Supervisors wanted to join our growing team in Bay of Plenty.
These full-time, permanent positions guarantee at least 30 hours of work per week, but you will usually work between 40 to 50 hours per week. The pay rate is $30 to $35 per hour.
These are leadership positions, leading your own team and ensuring quality standards, performance standards and health & safety standards are maintained.
Responsibilities:
• Daily leading and training a team of orchard workers from various cultural backgrounds.
• Monitoring production and ensuring the quality of work is to the highest standard that team timings and targets are met.
• Notify senior management of any quality issues identified, including issues from pests and disease, produce maintenance and handling etc.
• Ensuring all staff production targets for contract work are met and managed.
• Train staff on orchard tasks and grower expectations.
• Accurately and timely communicate with your team, supervisors, growers and the management team.
• Ensuring company health & safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive team, resolving issues to achieve a positive outcome directing issues through the correct pathway to be dealt with in a timely matter.
• Be able to complete all aspects of vine maintenance work including thinning, pruning, picking/harvest, stringing etc., and provide effective training to the team to ensure they perform this correctly.
• Following all hygiene and PSA protocols and ensure that the required standards are observed and followed by the team.
Requirements:
• Tertiary qualification, ideally in agriculture/horticulture, but will also consider qualifications in management/business/administration and leadership, or at least 2 years’ relevant experience.
• Excellent knowledge of agricultural operations. (will be tested at interview)
• Excellent knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations. (will be tested at interview)
• Ability to communicate effectively to a multi-cultural team, growers and management.
• Willing to work evenings and on weekends.
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Willing to complete random drug testing.
