New Zealand Placer Mining Limited is seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter-Welder to support its alluvial gold mining operations at West Coast. This role involves the maintenance, repair and modification of mining equipment, ensuring reliable, safe and efficient site operations in a demanding environment.

Key Task, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts safety and inspections of the plant equipment and machinery
  • Maintain and repair heavy equipment, including Excavators (up to 100 tons), Articulated dump trucks, Telehandlers and other heavy vehicles, Fixed and floating gold screen plants, water pumps and associated mining systems
  • Performs fabrication and welding as part of maintenance and repair activities, including pipework, wear plates and structural repairs
  • Undertake specialised repairs and component modification for conveyor systems and mining equipment
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Apply practical solutions to improve plant reliability and performance
  • Carry out preventive maintenance and schedules
  • Manage spares, consumable and inventory levels
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and WorkSafe regulations
  • Participate in training, safety drills and continous improvement activities

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES :

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience as Fitter-Welder and repair of heavy plant, mining and industrial equipment

OR

  • A relevant Level 4 trade qualification (Fitting, Welding and Fabrication experience in a maintenance context)

HOURS : Minimum guaranteed hours of 40 per week

HOURLY RATE : $33.00-$40.00 per hour

EMPLOYMENT TYPE : Permanent, Full-Time
