Experienced Welder needed for a Canterbury-based team, carry out high-quality welding techniques, precision cutting, and assembly of aluminum components, interpret technical drawings, and deliver expert metalwork in a supportive, skilled environment.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Welder to join our team in Canterbury. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, ranging from high-end architectural metalwork fabrication. You will be a key part of our skilled team, contributing to the delivery of premium, custom-fabricated metal solutions with a focus on precision and quality.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Interprets engineering drawings and specifications to determine welding requirements
  • Applies appropriate welding techniques to join metal sections
  • Monitors and adjusts welding parameters to ensure quality and integrity of welds
  • Cleans welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
  • Inspects and tests welded joints for defects and compliance with specifications
  • Measures and marks out the size, shape and location of cutouts and joints on metal stock
  • Uses specialised tools to cut, bend or shape metal into the desired structure or product
  • Joins metal sections together by welding, bolting and riveting
  • Examines welds for width of bead, penetration and precision, and performs necessary repairs or reworks

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of proven experience in metal fabrication and welding, with a strong background in aluminium.
  • Proficiency in welding techniques across various metal gauges.
  • Proven track record of high-quality craftsmanship and a clean finish on visible welds.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and isometric plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to manage bespoke fabrication challenges.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering premium-grade metalwork.
  • Ability to work effectively within a workshop team and maintain a safe working environment.
  • A valid driver’s license and your own reliable transportation.
