Seeking an Experienced Class 5 Driver for a Southland-based logistics team handling heavy haulage and bulk distribution. You’ll be responsible for the safe operation of multi-combination units, managing complex load securing, and navigating both urban and rural routes with precision. We’re looking for someone who can maintain meticulous logbooks, conduct thorough pre-trip inspections, and represent our brand with a professional, safety-first attitude in a supportive and high-performance environment.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Class 5 Driver to join our team in Southland. This role is ideal for a professional operator who takes pride in their vehicle and enjoys a mix of local and regional work. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of goods, ensuring our reputation for reliability is maintained on every shift.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Manoeuvring vehicles into position for loading and unloading
  • Loading and unloading vehicles using lifting and tipping devices
  • Observing safety requirements when loading and unloading vehicles
  • Making regular quality checks of vehicles to ensure they can be driven safely
  • Estimating weights to comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight
  • Ensuring goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and damage
  • Verifying loading documents, checking condition of goods and obtaining certification of deliveries

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: 2+ years of proven experience operating Class 5 vehicles (Truck & Trailer or B-Train).
  • Technical Skill: Proficiency with Road Ranger gearboxes is highly preferred.
  • Licensing: A clean, valid NZ Class 5 Driver License.
  • Endorsements: Dangerous Goods (D) or Forklift (F) endorsements are a significant advantage.
  • Reliability: A solid work ethic and the ability to handle early starts or variable shift patterns.
  • Safety Focus: A commitment to zero-harm and a clean drug and alcohol record.
