PayPlus is a leading fintech company specialising in integrated payment solutions, enabling New Zealand businesses to accept Alipay, WeChat Pay, and UnionPay across POS, e-commerce, and cloud-based systems. The company delivers secure, real-time payment processing and system integration services across multiple industries including retail, tourism, and hospitality.
We are seeking a Systems Analyst to support the design, integration, and optimisation of payment systems and digital transaction workflows. This role focuses on analysing business requirements, designing system integration solutions, and coordinating API-based payment implementations across multiple platforms. This is a permanent full time position, you will be required to work at least 40 hours per week between Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business & System Requirements Analysis
• Engage with internal stakeholders and merchant clients to gather, document, and validate business and system requirements for payment integration solutions
• Analyse existing merchant systems (POS, e-commerce platforms, mobile apps) to determine compatibility with PayPlus payment gateway
• Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications
2. Payment Integration & System Design
• Design end-to-end payment workflows, including transaction initiation, processing, settlement, and reporting
• Develop system integration frameworks for connecting third-party payment providers via APIs, SDKs, and middleware
• Define data structures, message formats, and interface specifications for transaction processing
3. API & Interface Specification
• Produce detailed API integration documentation, including request/response formats, authentication protocols, and error handling
• Coordinate with external payment providers and internal teams to ensure successful system interfacing
• Support testing and validation of API integrations to ensure reliability and performance
4. System Evaluation & Optimisation
• Evaluate existing payment systems and identify areas for performance improvement, scalability, and reliability
• Analyse transaction data flows to optimise processing efficiency and reduce failure rates
• Recommend enhancements to system architecture and integration design
5. Testing, Implementation & Support
• Develop test cases and participate in system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Support deployment of new integration solutions and system upgrades
• Investigate and resolve system integration issues and transaction errors
6. Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, integration specifications, and process flows
• Ensure all system designs comply with payment industry standards and security protocols
7. Stakeholder Coordination
• Liaise with developers, payment providers, and merchant technical teams to ensure smooth implementation
• Provide technical guidance to non-technical stakeholders regarding system capabilities and constraints
Skills & Experience
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field OR
- At least two years of relevant experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of system integration, APIs, and data exchange formats (e.g. JSON, XML)
- Knowledge of databases and transaction processing systems
- Experience or exposure to payment systems, fintech platforms, or digital services is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
