Responsibilities of the Position
Construction and installation:
- Measure cut, and shape wood,plastic, and other materials for outdoor structures and features
- Build frameworks and structures such as decks, pergolas, arbors, fences, pathways, patios, and retaining walls
- Install outdoor fixtures including benches, planters, trellises, and other decorative elements
- Construct and install softscapes features such as garden beds, borders, and irrigation systems
Blueprints and Drawings:
- Read and interpret landscape plans, blueprints, and sketches to understand project specifications
- Take accurate measurements and calculate material quantities required for construction and installation
Tools and Equipment:
- Operate hand tools such as hammers, saws, chisels, and screwdrivers effectivel
- Utilize power tools including drills, sanders, and nails guns proficiently
- Ensure proper maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to local building codes and regulations pertaining to outdoor structures and landscaping
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
- Wear and use appropriate personal equipment (PPE) as required by the job tasks
Repair and Maintenance
- Perform repair and maintenance tasks on existing outdoor structures and features
- Replace or repair damaged wood, materials, or components in both hard and softscape elements
Other Job Assignments
Complete additional job assignments as required by the company, which may include assisting in other area of landscaping or construction projects
Job pre-requisites:
- A qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 in a relevant field.
- At least two years of relevant work experience may substitute for the qualification.
- Eyes for details and a hard-working attitude.
- Being physically fit.
- Must not have any criminal record.
