We are a well-established vegetable farm located at Pukekohe, Auckland region, supplying a variety of fresh vegetables and mushroom to our customers all year round. As our business continues expand, we are seeking Two Greenhouse Manager to join us on a permanent basis.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in overseeing our modern hydroponic farm, covering approximately 40,469 sqm. You will be responsible for managing daily operations and leading a team to produce 1,800–2,000 crates of vegetables each week.

Our farm primarily focuses on Asian/Chinese hydroponic vegetables, which have short growth cycles and are predominantly grown in covered / greenhouse environments. Your experience in this specialized area will be highly valued.

About this role:

It is a full time position at Pukekohe. We will provide minimum 30 hours and maximum up to 40 hours each week. We offer competitive hourly rate. $34 to $40.00. We wish an immediate start. 

The working hours will be between 06:00am - 03:00pm Monday-Sundy finishing times vary due to the nature of the industry. Due to the nature of the industry, night work and weekend work will be required. The two Greenhouse Managers will work on a shift basis, sharing responsibility for managing daily operations of our greenhouse. 

Main duties of this role:

l  Plan, organise, coordinate, and control all greenhouse and hydroponic farming operations to achieve production and quality targets

l  Oversee crop planning, including selecting and planting seeds, seedlings, and bulbs, and implementing efficient growing schedules

l  Monitor and manage crop health by identifying and addressing issues such as fertilisation, pest control, and weed management to maintain optimal growing conditions

l  Lead, supervise, and coordinate seasonal and permanent staff, including allocating tasks and overseeing daily work schedules

l  Ensure the general upkeep of the greenhouses, maintaining a clean, safe, and productive working environment

l  Manage and monitor farm equipment and irrigation/water supply systems, ensuring maintenance is carried out in accordance with schedules

l  Ensure safe handling and operation of machinery and equipment, and promptly report any health, safety, or welfare concerns

l  Organise harvesting, stock control, and logistics, including coordinating transport to meet wholesale and retail customer requirements

l  Liaise with wholesale and retail customers to understand demand, coordinate supply, and maintain strong business relationships

l  Maintain accurate production, operational, and compliance records.

l  Develop, review, and implement innovative strategies for planting, cultivation, and farm operations to improve efficiency and yield

 

To be right for this role, you need to meet one of the below:

l  A qualification at Diploma or above

OR

l  At least 24 months of relevant greenhouse work experience
