Pasifika Wholesale Limited is looking for a full-time Transport Operations Manager to organise and control our transport, courier and delivery operations in the Wellington Region. The role will support our last-mile parcel delivery services, fleet and driver coordination, and wider wholesale distribution activities. You will be required to work as per the operational roster and may be required to work on weekends and public holidays depending on business needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Organise and control the daily operations of the company’s transport, courier, parcel delivery and distribution activities.
· Plan, implement and monitor daily collection, dispatch, delivery and return schedules to ensure parcels and goods are transported within required timeframes.
· Coordinate the allocation of drivers, vehicles and operational resources according to delivery volume, delivery areas and service requirements.
· Manage delivery routes and workflows across the Wellington Region to improve efficiency, reduce delays and maintain reliable service coverage.
· Monitor the use, maintenance, licensing, insurance and roadworthiness of company vehicles and contractor-operated vehicles used for delivery work.
· Check vehicle documentation, including WOF, registration and insurance, and ensure vehicles meet company, service partner and New Zealand transport safety requirements.
· Coordinate driver rosters, delivery assignments and daily work allocation to ensure delivery tasks are completed to required service standards.
· Ensure drivers and delivery personnel follow company procedures, delivery scanning procedures, proof of delivery requirements, safe delivery practices and service partner SOPs.
· Monitor driver performance, delivery conduct, customer service standards and compliance with operational procedures.
· Monitor delivery performance, including successful delivery rates, first delivery attempt requirements, proof of delivery compliance, complaint handling, returns and delivery failure issues.
· Investigate failed deliveries, unsafe delivery issues, incorrect delivery addresses, customer complaints, missing parcels, damaged parcels and other service incidents.
· Prepare corrective action plans where delivery performance, safety standards or operational requirements are not met.
· Arrange collection and delivery of parcels and goods from designated pickup locations, warehouses, suppliers, customer locations and delivery areas.
· Coordinate the movement of wholesale stock, including baby product lines and other goods, from port, warehouse or supplier locations to distribution points or retail customers as required.
· Ensure parcels and goods are stored, handled and transported in a way that minimises loss, theft, damage, misdelivery and customer complaints.
· Liaise with delivery partners, drivers, customers, suppliers, service providers and internal management to ensure transport operations are properly coordinated.
· Communicate with customers and clients regarding delivery requirements, collection arrangements, service issues and complaint resolution where required.
· Maintain business records relating to transport operations, vehicle use, driver allocation, delivery performance, customer complaints, incident records and operating expenses.
· Prepare operational reports, delivery performance summaries and KPI updates for management and service partners as required.
· Monitor transport-related costs, including fuel, vehicle maintenance, driver wages, insurance, courier expenses and other operating costs.
· Ensure transport, delivery, warehouse, vehicle and health and safety procedures comply with applicable New Zealand legal, safety, insurance and operational requirements.
· Any other duties the employer may reasonably require the employee to perform.
Pay rate: minimum $30.00 / hour - maximum $35.00 / hour
Guaranteed hours of work per week: minimum 30 hours
Requirements for the job:
· Hold a NZQF Diploma qualification in management, logistics, transport, supply chain, business or a related field, or have at least two years of relevant work experience.
· Relevant experience in transport, courier, delivery, logistics, fleet coordination, warehouse distribution or operations management would be preferred.
· Good understanding of transport, delivery, logistics or distribution operations.
· Ability to organise and control daily vehicle, driver and delivery activities.
· Strong planning, scheduling, coordination and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to monitor service performance, KPI results, delivery records and operational reports.
· Good communication skills for dealing with drivers, customers, suppliers, service providers and logistics partners.
· Understanding of health and safety, vehicle compliance, delivery risk management and customer service standards.
· Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to delivery failures, complaints, operational delays and service incidents.
· Be available for full-time employment and rostered work, including weekends and public holidays when required.
