Automation & Rigging Technician – Live Events & Broadcast
We are seeking an experienced Automation & Rigging Technician to join our dynamic technical team, working across live events, TV/broadcast, theatre, film, and touring productions.
This is a hands-on, technically demanding role where you will be responsible for the safe operation of multi-axis automation systems, rigging, and complex lifting in fast-paced, live environments.
The role offers a minimum of 40 hours per week, typically worked Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 3:30pm. Weekend work may be required when necessary, including at short notice. This is a long-term position, with a preferred commitment of three to five years.
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $36 to $40, depending on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and troubleshoot 2–6 axis automation systems
- Perform rigging duties, including working at height and climbing
- Operate and maintain GIS and StageMaker hoists
- Manage safe lifting, craning, and load-handling operations
- Collaborate closely with production and broadcast crews
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety standard
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience with 2–6 axis automation systems
- Strong rigging experience, including working at height
- Experience with GIS and/or StageMaker hoists
- Solid understanding of lifting and rigging practices
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing crew and contractors
- Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence
- Forklift and First Aid certification
