About the Role:
You will be part of a site-based team delivering large-scale civil and earthworks projects, contributing to safe, efficient, and on-time delivery of key milestones. Working across different stages of construction, you will operate machinery or support drainage and earthworks crews depending on your experience. This is a temporary expressions of interest campaign for a long-term project, with opportunities for ongoing work for strong performers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate excavators, graders, bulldozers, or dump trucks to complete earthworks, bulk excavation, trimming, and final shaping as required.
• Assist with installation of drainage systems, including pipe laying, manhole installation, and trench preparation under direction of site supervisors or drain layers.
• Carry out general civil labouring duties such as site preparation, spotting for machinery, compaction, back filling, and material handling.
• Support qualified drain layers with setting out, bedding, and back filling to required standards and specifications.
• Follow site instructions, plans, and levels to ensure work is completed accurately and to project requirements.
• Maintain plant, tools, and equipment in good working order and report any defects or safety concerns promptly.
• Adhere to all health and safety procedures, including use of PPE, safe work practices, and participation in toolbox meetings.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, operators, and labourers to meet daily productivity targets and project deadlines.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in one or more of the following: excavator operation, grader operation, bulldozer driving, dump truck driving, civil drainage, or civil/earthworks labouring.
• Demonstrated ability to work safely on active civil construction sites.
• Strong work ethic with reliability, punctuality, and willingness to assist with a variety of site tasks.
• Ability to follow instructions, read basic site markings or levels, and work to specified standards.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour, including lifting, digging, and working outdoors in varying conditions.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport to and from site.
• Flexibility to work standard construction hours and additional hours as project demands require.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience on long-term civil infrastructure or subdivision projects.
• Ability to operate multiple types of civil plant and machinery.
• Experience working within drainage crews or alongside qualified drain layers. 
• Familiarity with GPS or laser levels for earthworks and drainage.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within mixed crews.

Qualifications:

• Relevant machinery tickets and endorsements (e.g. R, T, W or plant operating tickets) for operators.
• Trade qualification or registration as a qualified drain layer for drainage specialists.
• Site Safe or equivalent construction safety passport (or willingness to obtain).
• Any additional civil construction or earthworks training certificates are advantageous.
