About the Role
Traffic Management Matters Limited is seeking a skilled and reliable Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) to join our team in the Canterbury region. This role is critical in ensuring safe and efficient traffic management operations across various worksites.
Key Responsibilities
The Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Planning and Implementation
- Preparing, reviewing, and implementing Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) in accordance with NZTA/Waka Kotahi standards.
- Assessing site conditions and ensuring appropriate traffic control measures are in place before work begins.
- Coordinating traffic management setups for roadworks, events, and maintenance projects.
- Supervision and Leadership
- Supervising Traffic Controllers (TCs) and other onsite staff to ensure compliance with approved TMPs.
- Providing clear instructions and guidance to team members regarding safe traffic control practices.
- Conducting toolbox meetings and safety briefings prior to commencement of work.
- Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensuring all traffic management activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation and company policies.
- Identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, and implementing appropriate control measures.
- Monitoring site safety continuously and taking corrective actions when required.
- Reporting incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly.
- Site Setup and Operations
- Overseeing the correct placement of signs, cones, barriers, and other traffic management equipment.
- Ensuring traffic flows are maintained safely and efficiently with minimal disruption.
- Adjusting traffic management measures in response to changing site conditions.
- Communication and Coordination
- Liaising with clients, contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Acting as the main point of contact onsite for all traffic management matters.
- Maintaining clear communication with team members via radio or other communication tools.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Completing all required documentation including site reports, TMP records, and daily logs.
- Ensuring all permits, approvals, and authorisations are obtained and adhered to.
- Keeping accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Equipment Management
- Ensuring all traffic management equipment is maintained, safe, and fit for purpose.
- Reporting any damaged or faulty equipment.
Employment Terms
- Pay Rate: $28 to $38 per hour (depending on skills and experience)
- Minimum Guaranteed Hours: 30 hours per week
- Work Location: Canterbury Region
- Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in traffic management
OR - A New Zealand Qualification Framework (NZQF) Level 4 or higher qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field
AND
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain a New Zealand Driver Licence
- Must have a clean driving record with no driving convictions
- Must be able to work weekends and nights
