With an established foundation and a growing client base, the business is now ready to accelerate its growth, creating an opportunity for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to take ownership of new client acquisition.
The Opportunity
This is a true hunter role, suited to a commercially driven BDM who thrives on winning new business, knocking on doors, and engaging with new businesses every day. You will target and secure new clients across a broad range of industries including industrial, FMCG, logistics, construction and food manufacturing.
Your focus will be on identifying opportunities, engaging decision-makers, and positioning tailored recruitment solutions that deliver real commercial value. Success in this role will come from your ability to identify opportunities, build client trust quickly and convert conversations into real business and long-term commercial partnerships.
As the BDM you will be the engine behind their expansion, proactively uncovering new opportunities, nurturing relationships, and securing ongoing business. You will be supported by a dedicated and capable internal delivery team, allowing you to focus purely on winning and growing new business, not filling roles.
There will be opportunities for your own personal development, with the potential to step into a leadership role as the business scales.
The Role:

Develop and execute a targeted, proactive business development strategy to drive new client acquisition.

Leverage your sales expertise to identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities within the temp and contract recruitment market.

Proactively prospect and generate leads across industrial sectors, FMCG, logistics, construction, food manufacturing and more.

This is a field-based, new business role. You will spend the majority of your time in the market, engaging clients face-to-face.

Drive ‘boots on the ground’ activity including cold calling, site visits, and in-person meetings to win new business.

Build and maintain a strong, active pipeline through networking, outreach, and referrals.

Meet with prospective clients to uncover hiring needs, operational challenges, and workforce gaps.

Present tailored, value-driven recruitment solutions across temp and contract services.

Negotiate commercial terms and secure long-term recruitment partnerships.

Maintain accurate records of all activity in the CRM.

Work closely with internal delivery teams to ensure successful placement outcomes.

Act as the face of the business, representing the brand with energy, credibility, and professionalism at all times.

This is a highly client-facing role. You will be out in the market, not behind a desk. No desk jockeys please.
About You:

Proven success in a BDM / sales “hunter” role, ideally within recruitment industry.

A strong track record of winning new business and building client portfolios

A confident communicator with strong influencing skills, who can engage at all levels

Commercially astute with the ability to identify and convert opportunities

Ability to generate your own leads, run your own pipeline, and close your own sales

Self-motivated and driven. You enjoy autonomy and being out in the market

Able to build credibility quickly and develop long-term relationships

Experience in recruitment is essential, preferably blue-collar labour hire experience, across FMCG, logistics, construction, food manufacturing etc.

High resilience, drive, and strong self‑management

You are results-focused and motivated by achieving and exceeding sales targets.

Motivated and trustworthy to work remotely. (Must be Auckland based)

Must have a suitable home office setup.

Remuneration: $80K base salary, company car, laptop, mobile phone

Uncapped commission structure, a strong performer could earn well in excess of $200K
