Gudiyamilan Trading Limited is seeking Store Managers to join its team in the Wellington region.

The role is suited to an individual who can take full ownership of store operations, effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced retail environment, and contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of the business.

The business operates two stores, and the successful candidate may be required to work at either store as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily store operations to ensure efficient functioning, high-quality customer service, and strong financial performance.
  • Track stock levels, maintain up-to-date inventory records, and organise purchasing to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  •  Liaise with suppliers on pricing, orders, and delivery timelines, and identify and onboard new suppliers when needed. 
  • Introduce and support the promotion of new grocery products in line with customer demand and sales growth objectives.
  •  Set pricing strategies, plan in-store promotions, and implement special offers to achieve revenue and margin goals. 
  • Allocate and supervise staff responsibilities to ensure tasks are completed effectively and to the required standards.
  • Support recruitment, training, and ongoing development of staff to ensure consistent service quality.
  • Maintain store presentation, cleanliness, and merchandising standards, ensuring staff adhere to dress and conduct policies.
  • Manage receiving, storage, and dispatch processes, ensuring proper documentation and accurate records are maintained.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements and explore opportunities to grow sales, including digital and online channels.
  • Lead, guide, and motivate the team to foster a positive, efficient, and customer-focused working environment.

The candidate will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $25 to $35 per hour.

Other Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience or a relevant qualification at Level 5 or above.
  • Availability and flexibility to work on weekends as required.
  • Comfortable working varied shift times.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
