NZ Hort Limited operates horticulture and kiwifruit orchard activities across multiple sites and requires a Health and Safety Officer to support the implementation of workplace safety systems. This role is essential to assist in maintaining compliance, monitoring safety practices, and supporting day‑to‑day health and safety activities across orchard operations.

Position Title: Health and Safety Officer
Number of Positions: 1
Location: Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
Pay Rate: $27 – $33 per hour
Hours of Work: 30 – 40 hours per week

 

Key Requirements

  • 2 years experience or Level 4 qualification.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining health and safety policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments across orchard sites.
  • Monitor staff compliance with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Assist with incident reporting, recording, and follow‑up actions.
  • Maintain safety registers, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Support delivery of safety inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure safe handling of orchard tools, machinery, and agrichemicals.
  • Assist in implementing safety improvements and corrective actions.
  • Support contractor and visitor safety compliance processes.
  • Liaise with supervisors and management on safety matters and reporting.
