An established renewable energy operator is seeking a Wind Service Technician to join a high-performing, multi‑disciplinary site team in Southland.

This hands-on role focuses on the maintenance and servicing of a portfolio of utility-scale wind turbines, supporting the reliable generation of clean electricity for thousands of New Zealand homes.

Working closely with experienced technicians, a Team Lead, and site leadership, you’ll carry out planned and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems while maintaining the highest safety standards.

This role suits someone who enjoys practical, technical work in a dynamic outdoor environment and is motivated to grow their trade skills within the renewable energy sector.

What you’ll be doing
  • Carrying out scheduled servicing and fault response on wind turbines
  • Maintaining and repairing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Diagnosing faults using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools
  • Supporting site reliability through inspections, reporting, and continuous improvement
  • Working safely at height, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
  • Participating in a roster for after-hours or reactive maintenance once trained
  • Engaging in ongoing technical and safety training through a structured competency framework

What you’ll bring
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and teamwork
  • Electrical registration or an electrical trade qualification preferred
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic fault-finding
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Willingness to support mechanical tasks as part of a varied role
  • Prior wind turbine or renewable energy experience is an advantage but not essential
  • Current full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • Physically fit: able to climb up to ~70 metres and lift up to 25kg
  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
  • Adaptable and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
