Requirements 

• At least 2 years of experience working in an authentic Thai Massage business, OR

• A related qualification (at NZ Register Diploma level or higher, overseas qualifications must be comparable to the standard of the New Zealand qualification), OR

• The National Skill Standard Testing Level 1 (Traditional Thai Massage) from Thailand, OR

• Any skill standard assessment certificate as a Thai massage practitioner.

Job Descriptions

  • Assess clients’ physical condition, treatment needs, case history, areas of discomfort, muscle tension, and any relevant medical background before providing treatment.

  • Discuss clients’ requirements, symptoms, areas of concern, and treatment goals to determine the most suitable massage techniques.

  • Provide Thai massage treatments using genuine Thai massage techniques to promote relaxation, relieve muscle tension, improve mobility, and support overall wellbeing.

  • Perform therapeutic massage to soft tissues, including muscles, tendons and ligaments, to assist with pain relief, relaxation, improved circulation, and muscle recovery.

  • Carry out deep tissue massage treatments to target areas of muscle tightness, stiffness, and tension.

  • Carry out sports massage treatments to assist clients with muscle recovery, flexibility, physical performance, and injury prevention support.

  • Apply appropriate massage techniques according to the client’s physical condition, pressure tolerance, contraindications, and treatment objectives.

  • Use complementary aids and treatment resources, including massage oils and hot stones, where appropriate to enhance the effectiveness of treatment.

  • Provide clients with advice on stretching routines, relaxation methods, posture awareness, and self-care strategies to support ongoing wellbeing.

  • Recommend suitable ongoing treatment plans or follow-up massage sessions based on the client’s condition and response to treatment.

  • Monitor clients during treatment to ensure their comfort, safety, and appropriate pressure levels.

  • Maintain accurate awareness of client preferences, physical concerns, and treatment history to provide consistent and suitable massage therapy services.

  • Prepare treatment rooms, massage beds, towels, oils, hot stones, and other equipment before each treatment.

  • Maintain a clean, hygienic, safe, and presentable workspace in accordance with workplace hygiene standards.

  • Clean, sanitise, and maintain massage equipment, treatment areas, and tools to ensure they are in good repair and suitable for client use.

  • Greet clients, manage bookings, confirm appointment schedules, and provide professional customer service as part of the massage therapy service.

• This is a full-time and permanent position

• Wages range from $27 to $35 per hour, depending on your experience and skills, and you will be paid weekly. 

• Holiday pay and sick leave will be paid according to the law

• You will be working at the three different locations listed below

 2/23 Majoribanks Street, Mount Victoria, Wellington 

​Level 2/22 Brandon Street, Wellington Central, Wellington
Level 1/6 Margaret Street, Hutt Central, Lower Hutt

• You will work according to a roster 5 - 6 days each week with a guarantee of 30 hours (a maximum of 48 hours)
