Join Aotearoa’s leading food service distributor and grow your career with a company that values innovation, relationships and excellence.
We’re on the lookout for a motivated and personable Business Development Manager to join our Tauranga team.
This newly created role will focus on adding to our active customer base in the Bay of Plenty region.
About Us
At Service Foods, we are passionate about delivering exceptional service and premium-quality products to New Zealand’s food service and hospitality industry. As the country’s largest privately owned and operated, fully integrated food distribution business, we are proud to have been recognised by Deloitte as one of New Zealand’s Best Managed Companies in both 2023 and 2024.
We’re more than just a business—we’re a family. We foster a dynamic, inclusive workplace where your ideas are valued, and your growth is supported.
The Role
This is a dynamic, on-the-road role perfect for someone who enjoys face-to-face engagement and creating meaningful connections with customers. You’ll be the key link between our clients and our business, ensuring their needs are not just met, but consistently exceeded.
We’re looking for a driven, high-performing sales professional who is hungry to build, grow, and win. You’ll take ownership of developing new relationships, unlocking fresh opportunities within our existing customer base, and bringing new customers into the fold. Your focus will be on driving strong, sustainable growth across the Bay of Plenty and making a genuine impact on the branch's success.
This role will suit a true “hunter” — someone who thrives on chasing opportunities, closing deals, and backing themselves to outperform.
In addition to your time on the road, you’ll spend a few hours each week in our Tauranga office to stay connected with the wider team.
🛠 Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and convert new business opportunities to drive branch growth
- Grow a small customer base into a large, highly active portfolio
- Maintain a disciplined call cycle to maximise customer engagement and satisfaction
- Negotiate and close sales, consistently exceeding targets
- Collaborate with Procurement and Warehouse teams to align supply with demand
- Provide tailored, value-driven solutions that meet client needs
📍 Note: This is not a work-from-home role and may require occasional weekend phone availability.
About You
You’re a confident, high-energy communicator and a proven top performer who knows how to win business. You thrive in a target-driven environment, enjoy the chase, and consistently deliver results.
You’re self-motivated, competitive, and resilient — someone who takes ownership of your territory and is motivated by both personal success and driving the growth of the wider business.
✅ You’ll Bring:
- Proven sales experience, ideally in food service or hospitality
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- A results-driven mindset with a genuine hunger to win and grow a territory
- The ability to work independently and confidently in the field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience is a bonus
- A tertiary qualification (preferred)
- Knowledge of the food service industry (advantageous)
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary + generous uncapped commission structure
- Career development in a fast-growing, forward-thinking organisation
- Supportive, inclusive team culture
- Opportunities to make a real impact and help drive the branch's growth journey
