We are seeking a motivated and experienced Retail Store Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Kiwi Treasures, a combined gift shop, local information centre, and post office in Lake Tekapo. The role focuses on delivering outstanding customer service, driving sales, and ensuring smooth and compliant retail and postal operations while representing the local community and tourism experience.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with an hourly rate of $33–$35 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily store opening/closing and overall operations
- Creating tour bookings
- Answering phone enquiries regarding tours and responding to emails regarding enquiries and tour bookings
- Lead customer service, visitor information, and complaint handling
- Manage retail sales, merchandising, and product presentation
- Handle stock control, ordering, and supplier coordination
- Supervise, train, and roster staff
- Complete cash handling, banking, and basic reporting
- Ensure compliance with postal and retail procedures
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year retail experience, including some managerial/supervisory duties
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage stock, cash, and basic reporting tasks
- Confident using POS systems and computer applications
- Tertiary qualification strongly preferred
