Telecommunications Technician
ESTEEM ELECTRICAL LIMITED is looking for a Telecommunications Technician to join our busy team in Auckland.
Some of the tasks related to this position would be:
• Installs, fixes, and looks after communication equipment—like phones, mobile devices, switchboards, and internet/data systems—in homes, businesses, and network sites.
• Splicing, terminating and connecting fibre optic cables to maintain continuity and
quality. Maintaining and repairing existing fibre installations and equipment as
required.
• Understands fibre plans for new home builds, commercial building.
• Liaise with clients &/or other relevant personal.
• Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and ensure a safe work environment for
yourself and others.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, complying with all site policies.
• Support the team in troubleshooting and problem-solving tasks.
• Comply with all company policies and maintain adherence to relevant safety
regulations.
• Hikvision programming and home automation with online integration.
• Access control (mag locks), security services and fibre terminations.
• Experience supporting audiovisual systems and IT asset management.
• Home automation with Schneider C Bus, PDL Wiser and Akubela.
• Fibre Installation - Installing fibre optic cables from network distribution point.
Running and securing cables, both underground and aerial, from boundary points
or poles to properties.
• Performing tests on fibre optic cables (multi-mode and single-mode) to ensure
they meet certification standards.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues in fibre optic connections, cabling or
equipment.
• Use specialized testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, Light Source/Power Meter, VFL)
to test network performance and integrity.
• Networking Setup - Setting up and configuring customer LANs and other
networking equipment according to industry specifications. Connecting fibre optic
cables to network devices such as routers. modems and ONTs (Optical Network
terminals).
• Conducting site surveys to assess installation requirements and documenting
findings. Preparing reports on network configurations, user requirements and
completed work.
Offered wage rate: $30 - $36 per hour (based on experience and skills)
Employment is full-time with a minimum of 30 hours per week.
You should have at least 6 months of relevant work experience or a Level 4/Bachelor's degree in Technology or a related field.
Working on weekends, late nights, and being available on-call are required for this position.
All suitable candidates should be able to pass a drug test and a Ministry of Justice check when required.
