Woody Glass Limited, based in Flat Bush, Auckland, has 3 years of experience specialising in commercial glazing, engineering, design, and installation of complex architectural glass systems.

Location : Auckland

Employment Type : Full time

Duration : 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday with optional weekend depending on project

Pay : $30 /hour (Min 40 hours & Max 50 hours per week, earning $1200 - $1500 weekly)

 

Duties of the Role:

  • Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
  • Mig welding experience on all thicknesses of steel including sheet metal
  • Mechanical experience of trailer components, including bearings, suspension, mechanical and hydraulic braking systems is an advantage
  • Fits, assembles and welds metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment
  • Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
  • Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
  • Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
  • Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
  • Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
  • Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
  • Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay up-to-date with industry best practices

 

Requisite Competencies :

  • Knowledge, skill and experience in installing glass, preferably with experience in frameless glass products installation and and high-end glazing projects
  • 2 years' relevant experience
  • Physically fit with ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Be comfortable working at heights and on ladders
  • Awareness of health and safety requirements and high safety-consciousness
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Reliable & able to get to work on time at a variety of site locations
  • The right to work in New Zealand
