We are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Foreman / Site Supervisor to join our growing team in Napier. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality civil construction projects.

About the Role

You will be responsible for leading site crews, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role requires a strong leader who can manage multiple stages of a project while maintaining clear communication with project managers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise site crews, maintaining productivity and quality standards

  • Coordinate day-to-day site operations across multiple project stages

  • Operate and oversee heavy machinery when required

  • Manage and execute civil construction activities

  • Maintain and enforce strong health and safety practices on site

  • Ensure all plant and equipment are operated safely and efficiently

  • Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents

  • Liaise regularly with Project Managers to plan upcoming work

  • Report on project progress and issues as required

  • Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and implement safe work plans

  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to team members

  • Maintain accurate daily records including quality plans and reporting

  • Work collaboratively with subcontractors and stakeholders

  • Take a solutions-focused approach with the ability to see the bigger picture

  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and environmental standards

About You

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the civil construction industry

  • At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or foreman role (or similar leadership position)

  • Strong experience operating heavy machinery

  • Background in earthworks, concrete, formwork, carpentry, or general civil works

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage crews effectively

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings confidently

  • Practical, flexible, and hands-on approach

  • Committed to delivering high-quality workmanship

  • Full driver’s licence (Class 2 preferred)
