Seeking experienced Bakers to support increased production demand following recent expansion for a full time, permanenet position. 

An established bakery business operating two locations within the Manawatu-Whanganui region (Ohakune and Taumarunui) is seeking experienced Bakers to support increased production demand following recent expansion. 

This is a full-time, permanent position with a minimum of 30 hours and up to 45 hours per week. 

Work is carried out on a rotating roster between Monday and Sunday, with shifts scheduled between 2:00am and 3:00pm. A 2-week rotating roster applies. 

Employees may be required to work across both bakery locations within the Manawatu-Whanganui region, depending on operational requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities 

As a Baker, you will: 

  • Prepare and craft dough, pastries, and baked goods using precise measurements and high-temperature baking techniques.  

  • Mix and blend ingredients to produce a variety of baked products, ensuring accuracy in weighing and measuring raw materials.  

  • Knead, mature, mix, cut, and shape dough and pastry goods to achieve consistency and quality.  

  • Prepare and assemble pastry fillings as required.  

  • Carry out baking processes including shaping, loading, baking, cooling, and finishing products.  

  • Glaze buns and pastries, and decorate products with icing, cream, and other toppings.  

  • Ensure finished goods meet required quality standards and production requirements.  

  • Operate baking equipment such as dough rollers, moulders, mixers, ovens, and biscuit cutters.  

  • Monitor oven temperatures and baked goods during production to achieve optimal results.  

  • Clean and grease baking trays, tins, and equipment after use to maintain operational readiness.  

  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace in compliance with health and safety requirements.  

  • Inspect the cleanliness of equipment and ensure the work area meets hygiene standards before commencing production.  

  • Follow established recipes and production instructions provided by senior staff. 

 

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, including pastry (choux, flaky, puff), 
    OR  

  • A relevant Level 4 qualification with at least 1 year of practical experience working with pastry (choux, flaky, puff).  

  • Ability to work early morning shifts (from 2:00am), weekends, and public holidays.  

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.  

  • Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods.  

  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
