We are currently seeking a driven and experienced South Island Operations Manager to lead and oversee our Christchurch operations and support the continued growth of our South Island business.
This is a senior operational leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced automotive environment and has strong experience in dealership operations, vehicle reconditioning, team leadership, and performance management.
About the Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full operational flow of the South Island branch, including compliance, reconditioning, after-sales support, and retail-ready vehicle delivery.
You will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, controlling costs, maintaining quality standards, and leading a high-performing team culture.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading daily branch operations to achieve monthly output and KPI targets
Managing vehicle compliance, servicing, mechanical repairs, panel and paint, grooming, and after-sales workflow
Monitoring vehicle turnaround times and ensuring retail-ready delivery standards are met
Managing supplier relationships, turnaround performance, and operational costs
Driving accountability, productivity, and team performance across the branch
Monitoring claims performance and maintaining customer satisfaction standards
Managing stock control, reporting accuracy, and operational documentation
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across operations and sales processes
Maintaining a safe, clean, and professional workplace environment
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Proven experience in used vehicle dealership operations
Strong leadership and people management capability
Experience managing automotive reconditioning workflow and operational performance
Strong understanding of vehicle compliance, servicing, and after-sales processes
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
The ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
Strong commercial awareness with a results-driven mindset
High attention to detail and accountability
A positive and professional approach to leadership and change management
Requirements
Previous automotive dealership management experience is essential
Finance & Insurance (F&I) exposure is advantageous
Full New Zealand Driver Licence required
Ability to work weekends and public holidays when required
NZ Citizenship, Residency, or a valid NZ work visa required
