Mt Richmond Wholesale Meats is looking for a Butchery Manager to lead our team. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, operational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality meat products and excellent customer service.

Job Details:

  • Location: Mt Wellington, Auckland

  • Working Hours: 30–40 hours per week (flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays)

  • Pay Rate: $32–$35 per hour (based on experience and/or qualification)

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the butchery.

  • Determine product range, stock levels, and pricing.

  • Supervise meat cutting, trimming, and portioning to meet quality standards.

  • Maintain machinery and ensure safe operation practices are followed.

  • Monitor stock, manage ordering, and reduce waste through effective rotation.

  • Plan and implement promotions to drive sales and customer engagement.

  • Manage costs and pricing to maximise profitability.

  • Handle customer feedback and resolve complaints effectively.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff.

  • Organise staff rosters and manage shift cover.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.

  • Carry out other related duties as required.

What we are looking for:

  • A relevant qualification (Diploma or higher) OR at least 3 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Excellent organisation, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Reliable, responsible, and capable of working well under pressure.

  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
