About the Role

Safe & Save is seeking an experienced and driven Retail Manager to lead our homeware, rugs, and kitchenware retail store in Auckland. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing overall store operations, leading staff, maintaining high customer service standards, and driving business performance and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily store operations to ensure efficient business performance
  • Lead, supervise, motivate, and support retail staff to achieve sales and customer service targets
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve store productivity and profitability
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage purchasing, stock control, and merchandising activities
  • Ensure accurate pricing, promotional displays, and presentation standards are maintained
  • Manage budgeting, sales performance, reporting, and financial targets
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff while maintaining a positive team environment
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures, company policies, and retail regulations
  • Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and escalated issues professionally
  • Coordinate promotional activities and assist in planning marketing initiatives
  • Prepare sales and operational reports for business review
  • Maintain store security, cash handling procedures, and operational efficiency
  • Liaise with suppliers and management regarding stock and operational requirements
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for customers from diverse cultural backgrounds

Skills and Experience Required

  • At least 2 years of relevant retail management experience, OR a relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification may substitute for experience
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • We serve a diverse and multicultural customer base, including customers from Bangladeshi, Indian, and wider local communities. To provide excellent customer service and effectively assist all customers, applicants must be able to communicate fluently in English and have proficiency in Bangla and Hindi will be advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Experience with inventory management, cash handling, reporting, and retail systems
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
