We're looking for an experienced Metal Machinist to join our team. You'll set up and operate machine tools to shape, form, and finish metal components to tight engineering tolerances. You'll work across a range of machining processes and be responsible for your own quality; from first setup through to final inspection. Guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week.

What you'll be doing

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Setting up and configuring machine tools with correct fixtures, tooling, and settings
  • Operating machines to press, cut, grind, plane, bore, and drill metal stock and castings
  • Programming and operating CNC or computer-controlled machine tools
  • Inspecting finished components using precision measuring instruments
  • Polishing, deburring, and finishing parts to specified quality standards
  • Carrying out minor routine maintenance to keep machines running

What we're looking for

  • 3 years experience in a metal machining or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specs
  • Working knowledge of CNC or computer-controlled machines
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to work to fine tolerances
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality

Desirable

  • Trade or technical qualification in metal machining or engineering
  • Experience across multiple processes — turning, milling, grinding, boring, drilling
  • Familiarity with a range of metals including steel, aluminium, or cast materials
