About the Business

Adana Grill is a busy food business located in Hamilton Central, Waikato. The business specialises in freshly prepared grilled meals, kebabs, and related menu items. We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to join our team and assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food in a fast-paced commercial kitchen environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, seasoning, and cooking food items in accordance with Adana Grill’s menu, recipes, and quality standards.

  • Cooking grilled meats, kebabs, rice, breads, sauces, sides, and other menu items as required.

  • Operating grills, ovens, fryers, hot plates, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Checking the quality, freshness, and suitability of ingredients before cooking.

  • Portioning, plating, garnishing, and presenting food to business standards.

  • Preparing food to meet customer preferences and reasonable dietary requirements where possible.

  • Ensuring food is stored correctly in temperature-controlled areas.

  • Maintaining clean and hygienic food preparation, cooking, and storage areas.

  • Following food safety, hygiene, and health and safety procedures at all times.

  • Assisting with stock rotation, minimising food wastage, and reporting low stock levels to management.

  • Supporting the kitchen team during busy service periods.

  • Assisting with basic menu preparation and estimating ingredient requirements when required.

  • Training or guiding junior kitchen staff in food preparation and kitchen procedures where required.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following:

  • At least one year of relevant work experience as a Cook or in a similar commercial kitchen role; or

  • Certificate level 4 or above qualification.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must also:

  • Have knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and kitchen hygiene practices.

  • Be able to work in a busy kitchen environment.

  • Be reliable, punctual, and able to work rostered shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays if required.

  • Be able to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures.

  • Have good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Be physically fit and able to stand for long periods during service.
