We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in our West Auckland office, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
Responsibilities of the Position
- Maintain accurate financial records and keep a full set of accounts using manual and computerised accounting systems.
- Record daily financial transactions and ensure all entries are accurately posted to the accounting system.
- Maintain and balance accounts, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Reconcile internal accounts against monthly bank statements and investigate any discrepancies.
- Monitor cash flow and lines of credit to support day-to-day business operations.
- Assist management by providing regular updates on cash availability and payment obligations.
- Prepare invoices, purchase orders and oversee the processing of bank deposits.
- Process incoming and outgoing payments and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
- Prepare budget and expenditure reports, cash summaries, and monthly profit & loss summary for management review.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records for month-end and year-end financial reporting.
- Verify recorded transactions and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Report any irregularities or discrepancies to management promptly.
- Maintain accurate GST records and assist with GST return preparation.
- Support payroll processing and preparation of related financial records where required.
Job pre-requisites:
- A qualification equivalent to NZQF Level 4 or above in accounting.
- At least three years of relevant work experience may substitute for the qualification.
- Eyes for details and a hard-working attitude.
- Experience using Xero or similar accouting software
- Must have legal right to work in New Zealand.
