WANTED FLEET MANAGER FOR EAGLE RECRUITMENT NZ IN AUCKLAND.
We are seeking an organised, safety-conscious and experienced Fleet Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a safe, reliable, and cost-efficient fleet that underpins our client’s service excellence and commercial performance. This role oversees the effective management of all transport and material handling equipment (MHE) assets—including trucks, trailers, and forklifts—ensuring compliant, high-performing operations across the logistics network.

Responsibilities:
1. Fleet & Asset Management
● Oversee the operation and utilisation of all fleet assets, including MHE and heavy trucks.
● Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimise equipment downtime.
● Maintain accurate service records and manage external service providers.
● Support asset lifecycle planning, including maintenance, replacement, and procurement
strategies.
● Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce total operating costs.
2. Compliance & Safety
● Ensure 100% regulatory compliance across the fleet, including Certificates of Fitness (COF), licensing, safety standards, and permits.
● Lead a strong safety culture across drivers and MHE operators, ensuring all hazards are
identified and controlled.
● Ensure units meet company standards for safety and maintenance through a reportable
system.
● Investigate incidents and implement necessary corrective actions.
3. Systems & Telematics
● Leverage fleet management and telematics systems, such as EROAD and My TR, to monitor vehicle performance and compliance.
● Ensure all digital records reflect accurate maintenance scheduling and utilisation data.
● Use data-driven insights to support delivery of on-time performance (DOT/DIFOT).
4. Financial & People Leadership
● Manage fleet-related costs, including fuel, repairs, maintenance, and hire equipment.
● Support budgeting and P&L accountability for fleet operations.
● Manage relationships with maintenance providers, leasing companies, and subcontractors.
● Lead recruitment, onboarding, KPI reviews, and performance planning for direct reports.
● Manage staff planning and leave liabilities.
Requirements and Skills:
● Education: An NZQCF Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Level 7 or higher) or equivalent.
● Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in fleet management within a transport or logistics environment.
● Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of heavy vehicle and MHE operations and NZ transport compliance standards.
● Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage stakeholders and manage diverse teams.
● Systems: Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in using telematics/transport management systems.
● Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated experience in managing costs, budgets, and P&L accountability.
● Experience in continuous improvement methodologies.
● Ability to design and maintain reporting functionality within transport management systems.
● Be willing to undergo random drug tests while employed.
● Must be NZ Citizen, NZ Resident or eligible to work in NZ.
This is a full-time, permanent role with an annual salary ranging from NZ$70,000 to NZ$130,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The position is based on a regular 40-hour work week, typically worked Monday to Friday between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm. Occasional weekend work may be required.
