About Us: 

Salal’s Halal Butchery, Mediterranean Imports, and Bakery have been proudly serving the community since 1995. As one of the only halal butcheries on the South Island, we specialize in catering to the Middle Eastern and Muslim communities, offering high-quality halal meat and meat products. With a strong commitment to excellent customer service, we have built a reputation for quality and reliability over the years. 

Due to our continuous growth and increasing client demand, we have expanded to a larger premises, which now includes a high-end bakery. Our bakery will focus on producing authentic Middle Eastern breads, ethnic desserts, and other cooked goods, bringing the flavours of the Middle East to our customers. 

Role Overview: 

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Baker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in baking Middle Eastern breads, desserts, and other traditional goods. As a Baker, you will play a key role in maintaining the quality and authenticity of our products while ensuring efficient bakery operations. 

Location: Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and bake a variety of Middle Eastern breads, desserts, and other baked goods. 
  • Follow traditional recipes and techniques to ensure authenticity and quality. 
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the bakery. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed. 
  • Collaborate with the team to develop new products and improve existing ones. 
  • Ensure timely production to meet customer demand. 

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of traditional Middle Eastern bread and dessert recipes. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. 
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills. 
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
