Position Title: Fruit Production Supervisor
Number of Positions: 3
Location: Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
Pay Rate: $26 – $32 per hour
Hours of Work: 30–40 hours per week

 

Key Requirements

  • Minimum Level 4 qualification or 2 years of experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise pruning, thinning, male pruning, leader training, and canopy development.
  • Monitor crop load, vine health, irrigation, and pest/disease pressures.
  • Allocate tasks to workers and monitor quality, speed, and safety.
  • Lead seasonal programme delivery according to orchard plans.
  • Train staff in correct kiwifruit techniques and H&S compliance.
  • Oversee safe use and maintenance of orchard equipment and tools.
  • Maintain daily operational records (job logs, hours, productivity, observations).
  • Coordinate with management on resourcing, weather delays, and orchard priorities.
  • Conduct quality checks to protect fruit grade potential.
  • Support continuous improvement and cost‑effective orchard operations.

Position Title: Horticulture Post Harvest Leading Hand
Number of Positions: 2
Location: Bay of Plenty, New Zealand
Pay Rate: $28 – $34 per hour
Hours of Work: 30–40 hours per week

 

Key Requirements

  • Minimum Level 4 qualification or 2 years of experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead small picking teams during daily harvest operations.
  • Issue picking gear, ladder checks, and ensure PPE compliance.
  • Conduct in‑row QA checks including bin fill level, defects, and contamination control.
  • Coordinate with tractor/bin runners for safe bin movements.
  • Provide coaching to pickers on correct technique and safe ladder use.
  • Maintain simple harvest data (bins per picker, rejects, delays).
  • Enforce orchard safety rules and protect fruit quality from bruising.
  • Set up rows for the next picking shift (bins, ladders, hydration stations).
  • Identify vine or crop issues and report to the Post Harvest Supervisor.
  • Assist with end‑of‑day cleanup and staging of bins for dispatch.
