About the opportunity:
An opportunity has become available for a Justice & Peace Advisor to join Caritas Aotearoa New Zealand in Wellington. This role supports the delivery of education, advocacy and engagement initiatives that promote justice, peace and development, with a strong focus on supporting Catholic school communities and young people across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Role description:
Support the delivery of education programmes, advocacy initiatives, youth engagement activities and stakeholder relationships while contributing to social justice awareness and mission-focused initiatives across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Responsibilities will include:
● Contributing to the development of education resources and programmes
● Supporting school engagement activities, workshops and events
● Assisting with advocacy research, submissions and campaign resources
● Building relationships with schools, teachers and community stakeholders
● Supporting the incorporation of Te Ao Māori perspectives across resources and activities
This role will suit someone with all or some of the following:
● Understanding of and commitment to Catholic social teaching
● Experience in education, youth development, advocacy or related fields
● Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills
● Ability to build meaningful stakeholder relationships
● Strong organisational skills with a flexible and collaborative approach
● A teaching qualification and/or experience within a Catholic education setting
would be an advantage but is not essential.
