Factory Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Factory Manager to join our team in Christchurch. This role offers the opportunity to work within a busy manufacturing environment, overseeing production, quality control, and workflow coordination across the factory floor. You will be a key part of our team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality joinery products and ensuring smooth, efficient factory operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

• To allocate jobs to employees for manufacture / assembly
• To control stock
• To do quality control checks on joinery leaving the factory
• To follow up with Administration assistance for parts required for maintenance to ensure availability on time for install
• To work with Production Manager to ensure materials required are received in time for production & items required to be sent off site for e.g painting are despatched in an acceptable time frame to be back in the factory in time for assembly and despatch
• To hold monthly tool box talks (or as required)
• To attend monthly health and safety meetings

Results

• To be able to work with staff and show good time management skills
• To regularly check stock levels and arrange for stock orders as required
• To do and encourage other employees to do quality control checks on items when assembling prior to despatch
• To look at upcoming work and ensuring product has been received in the factory to avoid any delays with despatch
• To lead by example and encourage strong workplace health and safety at all times
• To be proactive in keeping machines maintained and ensuring basic housekeeping is done by all machinists

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years’ experience in a factory management, production management, or joinery/manufacturing leadership role
• Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and production planning
• Experience in stock control and inventory management
• High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality control
• Ability to read and interpret production drawings and job specifications
• Strong problem-solving skills to manage workflow delays and production issues
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and support staff
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Full driver’s license and reliable transport
