Telecommunication Technician
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Telecommunication Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications networks across residential and commercial sites.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs site surveys. Assesses and documenting current site network configuration
and user requirements. Inspect drawings, specifications and work areas to determine
positioning and connections for equipment to be installed. Plan, design, and troubleshoot
local and wide area network infrastructure, including Wireless Routers, Copper phone
lines and Fibre networks.
• Engaging customer in the installation process by making him aware of the process
and any issues and discrepancies if any. Get the consent form signed and ensure
that customer have read and understood the terms and conditions therefore the
communication must be easy to perceive and handled in a friendly.
• Tests and certifies Fibre optic cables using specialised equipment (OTDR Testers, Splicer,
and FibreTracers).
• Diagnostics of faults in cabling and/or in equipment, troubleshooting and fixing fibre optic
faults, phone lines and internet connection.
• Installing, configuring and testing of Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and Fibre Terminal
Point (FTP) for ultra-fast broadband.
• Fibre Splicing, Fibre Blowing, Phone, TV & Internet connections, civils & MDU/ROW
builds for both residential and commercial sites.
• Monitor all services, identify issues and resolve any problems in equipment’s by doing the
testing in all equipment’s and network using various tools.
• Perform maintains work on network, initiate test and perform trouble shoot in all outages
and ensure compliance to all safety standards and codes and manage work according to
regulations.
• Able to handle power tools and have a knowledge handling concrete cutter.
• Hauling underground and aerial cable from access terminal to end customer, precisely test fibre (multi-mode and single mode) cable to required certification.
• Integrating and configuring telecommunication devices and tools to industry standards.
• Installing Fibre wiring as required, including cable runs through buildings and ceilings.
• Connects fibre optic cables to networking outlets and between network outlets.
• Providing ongoing operational support for troubleshooting, optimising telecommunication
network performance at all terminals including FAT, ABFFP, Network Cabinet, and
Customers’ end.
• Modems, Telephones, Set of Boxes for Televisions and Troubleshoot Computer system by
using Laptop, Tone detector, Fiber Optic visual fault locater, Fiber optic and Power Meter.
• Monitor data network, perform troubleshoot on same and repair and replace various
cables
• Concrete cutting, hand trenching both inside and outside boundary - civil works.
• Commercial Premises utilising both underground and aerial methodologies.
• Connects Fibre optic cables to networking outlets and between network outlets.
• Installation of the complete ribbonet system for UFB world, includes ABFFP installation,
jointing, fibre blowing, cabinet installation.
• Tracing, locating and fixing aerial and underground cable faults.
• Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner, focused on health and safety and quality
assurance
• Participate in weekly meetings and coordinate with various departments on upcoming jobs in industry.
• Attend various training programs and prepare schedule to provide training to Information
Services Telecommunication team.

Skills and Requirements

Relevant Experience or Relevant Qualification.

Strong knowledge of fibre optics, network systems, and testing equipment

Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively

Experience with civil works such as trenching and concrete cutting

Familiarity with health and safety regulations

Strong communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physically fit and capable of handling tools and equipment
