About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to join our team in Canterbury. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of HVAC systems across commercial and residential sites. You’ll work with ventilation systems, heat pumps, ducting, and air conditioning units, ensuring all equipment operates efficiently and safely. This role suits someone confident working both independently and as part of a skilled technical team.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Installing HVAC systems including heat pumps, ventilation units, and ducting
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance and servicing of HVAC equipment
  • Diagnosing faults and completing repairs on various heating and cooling systems
  • Interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications
  • Conducting airflow testing, system balancing, and performance checks
  • Ensuring all work complies with NZ building codes and safety standards
  • Completing service reports, maintenance logs, and job sheets
  • Providing professional customer service on-site
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, and a clean, safe work environment
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure efficient job delivery

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in HVAC installation, servicing, or refrigeration
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and diagnostics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specs, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience working with ducting, heat pumps, and ventilation systems
  • Relevant HVAC or Refrigeration qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Work on VRF / VRV, rooftop units and commercial plant
  • Candidates with formal Daikin or Mitsubishi product training will be highly regarded.
  • Electrical Service Technician (EST) license an advantage
  • High attention to detail with strong fault-finding ability
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Physically fit and comfortable working on ladders, roofs, and confined spaces
  • Full driver’s license & own transport preferred
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
