Position: Truck Driver

Hours: Minimum 30 hours guaranteed per week, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience
About the Role
We are seeking Truck Drivers to join our team in Christchurch. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring goods are transported, loaded, unloaded, and secured in accordance with health and safety requirements.
This is a permanent role and may require nationwide FTL work. Candidates must be prepared to stay away from home when required and be available to work weekends and nights depending on operational needs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Maintain a current driver licence.
- Manoeuvre vehicles into position for loading and unloading while maintaining health and safety requirements.
- Conduct regular quality and safety checks of vehicles to ensure they can be driven safely.
- Ensure goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and/or damage.
- Perform pre-start checks on vehicles before operation.
- Complete the correct paperwork to support vehicle checks and deliveries.
- Handle receipts and other transport-related documentation.
- Read maps, road signs, and delivery instructions.
- Pick up shifts when loads are available.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Class 5 HT (Heavy Traffic/Combination) licence, or have the ability to obtain one, or hold an equivalent overseas licence.
- A forklift licence will be an advantage.
- Hold a minimum NZ Register Level 2 or equivalent relevant qualification, or have at least 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Good understanding of paperwork and documentation requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Good mental ability to handle receipts, maps, and road signs.
- Physically fit and able to lift as required.
- Punctual, reliable, and willing to learn.
- Good attitude and flexibility with shifts.
- Prepared to work weekends, nights, and stay away from home when required.
- Able to provide previous work references.
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
- Must provide a satisfactory Ministry of Justice report.
