As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and driven Retail Manager to lead our restaurant operations at a senior management level.
Key responsibilites and duties
Strategic & Business Management
• Planning, organising, directing, and controlling all aspects of day-to-day retail food service operations
• Developing and implementing business strategies and operational plans to drive revenue growth and profitability
• Analysing sales figures, customer data, and market trends to identify opportunities and inform strategic decisions
• Setting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the restaurant and reporting performance to senior leadership
• Managing the store's P&L, preparing budgets, forecasting revenue, and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets
People Leadership & Human Resources
• Recruiting, selecting, inducting, and onboarding all restaurant staff across all levels
• Leading, coaching, and developing team members to build a high-performing, engaged workforce
• Managing employee relations matters including performance management, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution
• Designing and overseeing staff rosters, leave management, and workforce planning to ensure appropriate coverage at all times
• Conducting regular performance reviews and identifying training and development needs across the team
• Fostering a positive workplace culture aligned with Burger Wisconsin's brand values and people strategy
Customer Experience & Brand Standards
• Maintaining Burger Wisconsin's brand standards and ensuring consistent delivery of an exceptional customer experience
• Monitoring and responding to customer feedback, complaints, and reviews; implementing service improvement initiatives
• Collaborating with marketing teams on local area marketing activities and promotional campaigns
• Ensuring front-of-house and back-of-house operations consistently meet brand, quality, and presentation standards
Compliance, Health & Safety
• Ensuring full compliance with New Zealand employment law, food safety regulations, and the Health and Safety act.
• Holding and maintaining all required food safety certifications and ensuring the team meets hygiene and food handling standards
• Conducting regular health and safety audits, hazard identification, and risk assessments
• Maintaining accurate records for regulatory compliance, audits, and reporting purposes
Procurement & Inventory Management
• Overseeing procurement of food, beverage, packaging, and operational supplies in accordance with company standards
• Managing supplier relationships and negotiating terms to optimise cost and quality outcomes
• Implementing and monitoring stock control systems to minimise wastage and ensure adequate supply
• Conducting or overseeing regular stock takes and reconciling inventory discrepancies
Facilities & Equipment
• Overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of the premises, kitchen equipment, and front-of-house areas
• Coordinating with maintenance contractors and head office for repairs, upgrades, and equipment servicing
• Ensuring all equipment is operated safely and maintained in accordance with manufacturer and company guidelines
Essential
• A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience or a relevant qualification
• Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, cost controls, and revenue reporting preferred.
Salary range of $32.00- $38.00 per hour, depending upon experience. The role requires the candidate to work evening shifts, weekends and public holiday
