We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mobile Phone Technician (2 positions) to join our Christchurch service centre team. The successful applicant will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mobile phones and other electronic devices while delivering excellent customer service. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with customers regarding repairs and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and other electronic devices.

  • Replace defective parts including screens, batteries, cameras, charging ports, and other components.

  • Conduct hardware and software testing to identify faults and ensure devices are functioning correctly.

  • Install, configure, and update operating systems and software applications.

  • Perform data backup, recovery, and system reinstallation when necessary.

  • Communicate with customers regarding repair assessments, quotations, and estimated completion times.

  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace while following workplace health and safety procedures.

  • Monitor inventory levels, coordinate stock replenishment, and liaise with suppliers when required.

  • Provide general IT support and technical assistance as needed.

Skills and Experience Required

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in mobile phone or electronics repair; OR

  • A Level 5 NZQA qualification (or overseas equivalent) in Electronics, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Preffered experience repairing devices from major brands including Apple, Samsung, Huawei, and others.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting abilities with excellent attention to detail.

  • Good manual dexterity and precision for delicate repair work.

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team environment.

  • Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays according to roster requirements.
