Carpenter – Residential Building
Location: Auckland, with travel to client sites as required
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Reporting to: Director
Hours of Work: 30–50 hours per week, with a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours per week. Hours will be rostered between Monday and Sunday, within the time window of 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Pay Rate: NZD $25.00 – $37.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
About the Role
We are looking for a few reliable and skilled Carpenters to join our residential building team in Auckland. The role will involve carpentry work for residential new builds, renovations and alterations, including framing, installation, repair and finishing work across different stages of residential building projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with the director and other tradespeople to complete building work safely, accurately and to the required standard.
Key Duties
- Read and interpret building plans, drawings, measurements and site instructions.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and install timber, plywood, wallboard and other building materials.
- Construct, install and repair wall frames, floor structures, roof framing, partitions, decking structures, cladding supports and other residential building elements.
- Install doors, windows, fixtures, fittings and other building components as required.
- Carry out general carpentry work for new builds, renovations and alteration projects.
- Ensure all work is properly aligned, secured, finished and completed to project requirements.
- Use hand tools, power tools and site equipment safely and accurately.
- Work with the director, builders and other tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area on site.
Requirements
- Minimum two years’ relevant experience in the construction industry; or
- A certificate in Carpentry or Joinery.
- Ability to read and follow plans, drawings, site measurements and instructions.
- Practical skills in measuring, cutting, assembling, installing and repairing building materials.
- Experience in residential new builds, renovations, alterations, framing, decking, cladding support or general carpentry work would be an advantage.
- Good attention to detail and ability to complete work to a high standard.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small building team.
- Physically fit and able to work on residential construction sites.
- Reliable, safety-conscious and willing to travel to client sites within Auckland as required.
